celebrating art & flora
@thefloralia is a passion project that started as a curated Instagram feed of floral paintings and artworks. Driven by my love for indie mags and art books, Floralia then became a celebration of flora and art.
I embraced my “Swiss Army knife” creative abilities and acted as the designer, photographer, writer, curator, art director, and publisher for a new and independent publication dedicated to all flora lovers and art enthusiasts looking to be inspired. The Art Issue featured artworks created by up-and-coming artists based in Puerto Rico and the United States: @pupabygio | @jadetantillo | @juansnp_ | @emmlio | @nviliu | @artbypamelalee | @alienpatty_ | @fanuna | @wilmiriam_

Floralia, 1898 by Hobbe Smith | This beautiful painting first caught my eye and inspired me to create the @thefloralia Instagram account. It even went viral on Tumblr when I first posted it.

Giovanna Andrea, one of my best and most talented friends, visited St. Pete, and I got to capture her and ask her about her process as an artist documenting and illustrating the fauna and flora of Puerto Rico. See her beautiful work at www.instagram.com/pupabygio/
